Zaghabashi was a village in the territory of the Iravan uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Ellar (Kotayk, Abovyan) district, and present-day Kotayk province. Seven Azerbaijanis lived there in 1897.
The Azerbaijanis were ousted by Armenian armed units in the early 20th century and the village was abolished.
The toponym was coined by combining the words “zagha” meaning in Azerbaijani “a cave” and “bash” meaning “a peak”, “a hill”, “the beginning”, “the area in the upper reaches of the river”, “main”.
