Yukhari Hunud was a winter pasture located in the territory of the Gazakh uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Shamshaddin (Berd) district, and present-day Tavush province. It was dissolved in 1930.
The toponym was coined on the basis of the Old Turkic ethnonym “Hun”. The word “yukhari” at the beginning of the toponym denotes a distinctive feature and “ud” in the toponym “Hunud” is a toponymic formant.
