Yanig is a mountain in the Alexandropol uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Amasiya (Aghbaba) district, in the territory of the Chaxmag (Kamkhut) village of the present Shirak province.
The toponym was coined on the basis of the word “yanig” used in the sense of “a waterless, dry place” in Azerbaijani.
