Turu

Turu is a mountain pass in the Zangezur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Mehri (Meghri) district, and currently in the Syunik province. It is located in the territory of the Nuvedi (Nrnadzor) village.

The toponym was coined by the word “turugh” used in the sense of “a place, settlement” in Old Turkic to denote “a settlement on a mountain pass, on a mountain ridge”.
