Tej is a mountain in the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Akhta (Hrazdan) district, and currently in the Kotayk province. Its height is 3100 m.
The word “tej” is used in the dialects of the western group of the Azerbaijani language to mean “high, peak”. The toponym was formed from the word “tej” used in the sense of “high, peak” and means “a high mountain”.
