“When Armenians educate their children, they start with the idea that Turks are their enemies. We Azerbaijanis were not like that. Sumgait incidents were perpetrated by Armenians themselves. During the Soviet era, only the great leader Heydar Aliyev supported those deported from Western Azerbaijan. I was in military service in 1988. My relatives built a a small house for themselves. Our dream is to go back to our ancestral lands. My father used the weapons he seized from Armenians during the Soviet era against Armenians. That’s why my father was a fugitive.”
