Marrallija

Marrallija was a winter pasture located in the territory of the Gazakh uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Chambarak (Krasnoselsk) district, and currently in the Gegharkunik province. It was located near the village of Golkend (Aygut).

The toponym was coined by adding the augmentative adjective suffix “-ja” to the animal name “maral” (deer). It means “a place where there is a deer”.
