Khalajlar is an area in the Sharur-Daralayaz uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Kesishkend (Yegheknadzor) district, and currently in the Vayots Dzor province. It is located on the Soghanli summer pasture of the Govushug village.

The toponym was formed from the Turkic tribal name “Khalaj” and the word “yurd” used to mean “a place of residence, abode”.
