Gozlu is a village in the Alexandropol uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Talin district, and currently in the Aragatsotn province. The provincial centre is located 53 km to the northwest of the town of Ashtarak, at the foot of Alagoz Mountain, at a height of 1,850 m above sea level. The village was subordinated to the Echmiadzin uezd in the 1830s–1840s. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.

The village had been inhabited by Azerbaijanis until 1828. After the Treaty of Turkmenchay, in 1829–1832 Armenians removed from the Turkish provinces of Mush, Alashkirt and Kars, and the Iranian provinces of Qazvin and Khoy were settled there, and the Azerbaijanis were deported by Armenian forces.

The toponym was coined on the basis of the tribal name “Gyozlu”.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR dated 12 November 1946, it was renamed “Akunk”. According to the law “On the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia” dated 7 November 1995, it was integrated into the administrative area of the Aragatsotn province.
