Bughakar was a winter pasture located in the territory of the Borchali uezd of the Tiflis governorate, later in the former Barana (Noyemberyan) district, and currently in the Tavush province.
The place was inhabited by one Azerbaijani and two Greeks in 1926. It is not mentioned in official documents after the 1930s.
The toponym was coined by combining the word “buk” used in the sense of “a mountain pass“, “a narrow valley, ravine”, “a plain at the foot of a mountain, on the river bank” in Turkic and the word “kar” used in the sense of “a steep rock” in Turkic.
