Bozburun

Bozburun is a mountain in the Iravan uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Talin district, and currently in the Aragatsotn province. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus. It was renamed “Yerakhs”.

The toponym was coined by combining the word “boz” used to mean “grassless, forestless” and the word “burun” used to mean “a mountain protrusion”, “the part of a hill where it curves towards the top”. The toponym means “a grassless mountain protrusion”.
