Akhtajul was a village in the Sharur-Daralayaz uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Pashali (Azizbeyov, Vayk) district, and present-day Vayots Dzor province. It was located near the village of Gomur. At present, the village is abolished.
The toponym was coined by combining the ethnonym “Akhta”, one of the branches of the Turkic Padar tribes and the name of the ancient Turkic tribe “Chul/Chol/Sul”.
