Aghyokhush is a mountain pass in the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Basarkechar (Vardenis) district, in the territory of the winter pasture of Sultan-Ali (the Janahmed village) of the present Gegharkunik province.
The toponym was coined by combining the word “agh” used in the sense of “high” in Old Turkic and the word “yoxush” used to mean “a cleve”.
