Aghsu

Aghsu was a village in the territory of the Gazakh uezd of the Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Shamshaddin (Berd) district, and present-day Tavush province. The village was inhabited by 70 Azerbaijanis in 1959. In 1960 the inhabitants were removed and the settlement was abolished. The ruins of houses still remain there. The village lies in ruins.

The toponym was coined by combining the words “agh” meaning “small” and “su” meaning “a small river or lake” in Turkic to denote “a village by a small river”.
