Aghgol is a lake in the Zangazur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Gafan district, in the present Syunik province.

The name was coined by combining the words “agh” meaning “fresh, drinkable” and the geographical nomen “gol”. The name of the lake was noted as “Berandzov” in Armenian sources.
