Adatepe was a village in the territory of the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Chambarak (Krasnoselsk) district, and present-day Gegharkunik province. It was located near the village of Ardanish, between the villages of Ardanish and Shorja, 3-4 km to the northeast of the village of Shorja. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus. Armenian sources state that the toponym “Adatepe” was formed on the basis of the name of “Adavang”.
The village was inhabited by Azerbaijanis and abolished in the early 20th century.
The toponym was coined by combining the words “ada” meaning “a piece of land surrounded by water” and “tepe” meaning “a hill” in Azerbaijani.
