Abbas Deresi was a village in the territory of the Gazakh uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Karvansara (Ijevan) district, and present-day Tavush province.
The name of this village inhabited by Azerbaijanis was first mentioned in the 13th century by Kirakos Ganjali. At present, the village lies in ruins.
The toponym was coined on the basis of the personal name “Abbas” and the word “dere” meaning “a valley”.
