Basutchay is a river in the Zangazur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Gafan district, and currently in the Syunik province. Another name for the river is “Basatchay”.

The hydronym was coined in association with the personal name “Basat” from the epos “The Book of Dede Korkut”.
