Arkhashan was a winter pasture located in the territory of the Lori Pambak uezd of the Tiflis governorate, later in the former Boyuk Garakilsa (Kirovakan, Gugark) district, and present-day Lori province. It was located in the territory of the village of Hallavar.
The toponym was coined on the basis of the word “arkhashan” used in the sense of “the place where the ditch passes” in Azerbaijani.
