Yukhari Gazbin was a village in the territory of the Echmiadzin uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Talin district, and present-day Aragatsotn province.
The village was inhabited by 100 Azerbaijanis in January 1918. The Azerbaijanis were attacked, massacred or expelled from the village by Armenian armed units in March of 1918. The village was abolished in 1920. At present, it lies in ruins.
The toponym was coined by combining the words “gaz” meaning in Azerbaijani “a pass, a narrow passing in a plateau”, “a saddle on the ridge of the mountain”, “a depression in the mountain peak” and “bina” meaning “a settlement, a village, nomads’ camp, a stop, a place where animals are kept”. “Yukhari” at the beginning of the toponym is a distinctive feature.
