Yemazli was a village in the territory of the Zangezur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Gafan district, and present-day Syunik province. The village was located 10 km to the east of the town of Gafan and on the left bank of the Khalaj River. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.
The village was inhabited by 27 Azerbaijanis in 1831, 278 in 1873, 244 in 1886, 110 in 1897, 130 in 1904 and 89 Azerbaijanis in 1914. The Azerbaijanis were attacked, massacred or expelled from the village by Armenian armed units in 1918. After the establishment of Soviet power in present-day Armenia, the surviving inhabitants of the village managed to return to their native lands. The village was inhabited by 45 Azerbaijanis in 1922, 46 in 1926 and 54 in 1931. The village was abolished in the late 1930s.
The toponym was coined on the basis of the name of the Yemazli tribe.
