Yelakhli Mehdi Kendi was a village in the Zangezur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Gafan district, in the present Syunik province. It was located near the village of Zeyva.
The village was inhabited by 164 Azerbaijanis in 1897. The village was destroyed as a result of attacks by Armenian armed units in 1905–1906.
The toponym is composed of three components. The first component “Yelakhli” was coined by adding the ending “-li” to the word “yalakh” which in dialects means “a depression”, “a low place”. The second component “Mehdi” is a personal name. The toponym means “the village of Mehdi built in a depression”.
