Vorontsovka

Vorontsovka (Kalinino) district was organized on December 31, 1937. Vorontsovka settlement was the administrative center of the district with an area of 690 km². The distance from there to Iravan is 174 km.

The territory of the district was historically included in the Loru district of the Iravan Khanate, and during the period of Tsarist Russia, it was a part of the Borchali District of the Tbilisi Governorate.

In 1953, the district was abolished and in 1956 it was reorganized as an independent district. Nevertheless, the district was abolished again in 1962 and reorganized in 1964.

Since 1987, the native inhabitants of the district – Azerbaijanis were forced to leave their places of residence. In 1995, the district was abolished and included in the administrative territory of Lori province of Armenia.
