Although some sources state that the construction date of Tepebashi Mosque is 1687, exact date is unknown. Based on the information available to us, it already existed in the 40s of the XIX century. Most likely, the mosque is older and dates back to the XVII-XVIII centuries. According to some information, the mosque was built on the instructions of Abbasgulu Khan Iravanski, a member of Iravan city administration.
The Tepebashi mosque is located in the residential area of the same name. The mosque is built entirely of bricks. As can be seen from the photographs, the main dome covered with glazed mosaic tiles with a repeating rhombic pattern, taking the example of a number of other mosques in Iravan, had been destroyed. Its walls are 1.5 meters thick.
The minaret of the mosque collapsed in the 1960s. Later, slums were built in and around the courtyard of the mosque. At the moment the mosque, which is currently in ruins, as well as in the imam’s room are inhabited by Armenian families.
