Tekiye is a village in the Echmiadzin uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Ashtarak district, and currently in the Aragatsotn province. The provincial centre lies 6 km to the southwest of the town of Ashtarak, on the right bank of the Kasakh River, at a height of 1,420 m above sea level. Another name for the village was “Takya, Takka”. It was marked as “Pirta-kiyasi” in “The Iravan Province Comprehensive Data Book” compiled in 1590 and as “Takka” in “The Iravan Province Review Book” dated 1728 and as “Takiya” on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.

The village was solely inhabited by Azerbaijanis: 155 in 1831, 398 in 1873, 582 in 1886, 635 in 1897, 725 in 1908, 768 in 1914, 587 in 1916 and 428 in 1919. In 1919 the Azerbaijanis were deported from the village by Armenian armed units. The Armenians from Mush, Bitlis and Ahlat provinces of Türkiye were moved and settled in the village in 1919–1920. Following the establishment of Soviet power in the territory of present-day Armenia, the surviving Azerbaijanis were able to return to the village. Along with the Armenians, the village was inhabited by 179 Azerbaijanis in 1922, 175 in 1926 and 227 Azerbijanis in 1931. According to the decision of the USSR Council of Ministers “On the resettlement of collective farmers and other Azerbaijani population from the Armenian SSR to the Kur-Araz lowland of the Azerbaijan SSR” dated 23 December 1947, the Azerbaijani population of the village was forcibly deported from their historical-ethnic territories to Azerbaijan in 1948–1950. At present, only Armenians live there.

The toponym was coined on the basis of the Turkic ethnonym “Teke”. It is an ethnotoponym.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR dated 1 December 1949, it was renamed “Bazmaghpyur”. According to the law “On the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia” dated 7 November 1995, it was integrated into the administrative area of the Aragatsotn province.
