Sichanli was a village in territory of the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Garanlig (Martuni) district, and present-day Gegharkunik province. It was located near Tezekend.
The village was solely inhabited by Azerbaijanis: 302 in 1886, 310 in 1897, 499 in 1904, 582 in 1914 and 404 Azerbaijanis in 1916. The village was abolished after the Azerbaijanis had been attacked, massacred or expelled from there by Armenian armed units in 1918. At present, it lies in ruins.
The toponym was coined by adding the possessive ending “-li” to the ethnonym “Sinjan” of the Beydili tribe of the Oghuz.
