Shabadin Akhund Yeri was a village in the territory of the Zangezur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Gafan district, and present-day Syunik province. It was located near the village of Okhchu. The village was inhabited by 10 Azerbaijanis in 1897. It was devastated as a result of attacks and massacres committed by Armenian armed units in 1905–1906.
The toponym was coined by combining the words “chap (shab)” meaning “a sandy and rocky mountain slope without any vegetation”, “a precipice”, “a slope” “an elevation in a deep depression between mountains” and “din” meaning “to stop for rest, to rest” in Turkic.
