Okhchuchay is a river in the Zangazur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Gafan district, and currently in the Syunik province. It rises at Gapichig mountain of the Zangazur Mountain range and flows through the Gafan district and the Zangilan district of Azerbaijan into the Araz River. The length of the river is 85 km and the basin area is 1140 km².
The hydronym is related to the personal name “Okhchu” mentioned in the epos “The Book of Dede Korkut”. As it is mentioned, “Okhchu” later became an ethnonym and was stabilized as one of the Turkic tribes.
