Nereduzu is a village in the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Kavar (Yeni Bayazid, Kamo) district, and currently in the Gegharkunik province. The provincial centre lies 4 km to the northeast of the town of Kavar, near the Kavar River, at a height of 1,920 m above sea level. The name of the village was indicated in “The Iravan Province Review Book”. In the west of the village, the burial mounds in the ancient cemetery – the Oghuz tombs, which remained untouched until 1988, attract attention with their amazing sizes. The local population, the Azerbaijanis, pronounced the name of the village as “Nereduz”. In Armenian literature, it is given as “Nuratus”.

The village was originally inhabited by Azerbaijanis, and after the settlement of Armenians in the region, the population gradually left the village. Armenians were settled to the village from Türkiye after 1828. The toponym is an orotoponym formed by combining the word “nori” used in the meaning of “a steep rock, deep ravine, abyss” in Turkic and the word “dyuz”.

Currently, the name of the settlement is written as “Noradus” in official documents in Armenian. According to the law “On the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia”, dated 7 November 1995, it was integrated into the administrative area of the Gegharkunik province.
