Kuzajik

Kuzajik is a village in the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Kavar (Yeni Bayazid, Kamo) district, and currently in the Gegharkunik province. The provincial centre lies 7 km to the north of the town of Kavar, adjacent to the Kavar River, at a height of 2,000 m above sea level. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.

Historically, Azerbaijanis lived in the village. The Armenians deported from the villages of the Beyazid province of Türkiye in 1828–1830 were settled in the village. In 1905 Armenian armed groups committed massacres in the village of Kuzajik. The village was inhabited by 119 Azerbaijanis in 1918, and only one Azerbaijani in 1926.

The toponym was coined from the ethnonym “Guzujakli” from the Bayat Branch.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR dated 19 April 1950, the name of the village was changed to “Lanjakhpyur”. According to the law “On the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia” dated 7 November 1995, it was integrated into the administrative territory of the Gegharkunik province.
