Koshekend

Koshekend was a winter pasture located in the territory of the Zangazur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Gafan district, and present-day Syunik province.

It was inhabited by 34 Azerbaijanis in 1897. As a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in 1905–1906, the Azerbaijanis were expelled by Armenian militants, and the village was liquidated.

The toponym was coined by adding the words “kend” and “gishlag” to the word “koshe” used in the sense of “a temporary residence, settlement, hut” in Turkic.
