Korpali

Korpali is a village in the Echmiadzin uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Uchkilsa (Echmiadzin, Vagharshapat) district, and currently in the Armavir province. The provincial centre lies 14 km to the northeast of the town of Serdarabad (Armavir), at a height of 860 m above sea level. The village had been inhabited by Azerbaijanis until 1828. After the Treaty of Turkmenchay, that is in 1828–1829, the Armenians relocated from the Khoy province of Iran were settled in the village. At present, the village is inhabited by Armenians.

The toponym was coined from the name of the Korpali tribe. It is an ethnotoponym.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Armenian SSR dated 3 January 1935, the village was renamed “Arshaluys”. According to the law “On the administrative- territorial division of the Republic of Armenia” dated 7 November 1995, it was integrated into the administrative territory of the Armavir province.
