Khalikend

Khalikend was a winter pasture located in the territory of the Gazakh uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Chambarak (Krasnoselsk) district, and currently in the Gegharkunik province. It was located near the village of Chaykend (Dprabak).

Historically, it was a village, and later its residents moved to Chaykend It was inhabited by five Azerbaijanis in 1926 .

The toponym was coined by combining the word “khali” used in the sense of “ownerless, unoccupied, empty” (In the western dialect of the Azerbaijani language “khali” means “the uncultivated part of the cultivated land”) and the geographical name “kend” (a village).
