Kefli

Kefli is a village in the Alexandropol uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Gizil Goch (Gukasyan) district, and currently in the Shirak province. Until 1937 it had been subordinated to the former Aghbaba district. Its centre lies 32 km to the northeast of the town of Gumru, at a height of 1,930 m above sea level. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.

The village was originally inhabited by Azerbaijanis, but following the settlement of Armenians in the region, the population moved to Türkiye.

By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of Armenian SSR dated 25 January 1978, the village was renamed “Kakavasar”. According to the law “On the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia” dated 7 November 1995, it was integrated into the administrative area of the Shirak province.
