Kapanak is a mountain in the Alexandropol uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Duzkend (Akhuryan) district, and currently in the Shirak province. It was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.
The toponym is related to the ethnonym “Kapanakchi” which is formed from the word “kapanak” used in the sense of “a felt cloak” in Old Turkic.
