Itgiran Ortakend was a village in the Sharur-Daralayaz uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Pashali (Azizbeyov, Vayk) district, and present-day Vayots Dzor province.
The village was solely inhabited by Azerbaijanis: 169 in 1897. The Azerbaijanis were forced out by the Armenian-Dashnak armed units in the early 20th century. The village was abolished. At present, it lies in ruins.
The toponym was coined by combining the words “it” which is a part of the ethnonym “itbarak” and “giran/kuren/kuran” meaning in Turkic “a village, a settlement, a house in the forest, a dugout, a temporary living place of cattlemen” and “ortakend” to denote “a village between two objects, in the middle, in-between”.
