Guzey was a winter pasture located in the territory of the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Chambarak (Krasnoselsk) district, in the territory of the village of Tokhluja (Drakhtik) of the present Gegharkunik province.

The toponym was formed from the word “guzey”, which means “a place where the sun never sets, a shady place”.
