Gatirabad

Gatirabad was a village in the territory of the Echmiadzin uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Gurdugulu (Hoktemberyan) district, and present-day Armavir province. It was located on the left bank of the Araz River. The village was destroyed as a result of massacres committed by Armenian armed units in 1905–1906.

The toponym was coined by combining the word “kadir” meaning “a precipitous cliff, a steep precipice” in Turkic and the word “abad”.
