Garangu is a river in the Alexandropol uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Aghin (Ani) District, and currently in the Shirak province. It flows through the village of Molla Gokcha (Maralik). The river was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus. The length of the river is 38 km. It rises at Gara and springs in Alagoz Mountain and flows into the Araz River.
The hydronym was coined on the basis of the word “garangu” from M.Kashghari’s “Divani-Lughat-it Turk” meaning “dark, suspicious, evil”. The river was initially renamed Sevjur, then Metsamor.
