Garalar was a village in the Sharur-Daralayaz uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Pashali (Azizbeyov, Vayk) district, and present-day Vayots Dzor province. It was located near the village of Pashali. The village was marked on the five-verst map of the Caucasus.
The village was inhabited by 49 Azerbaijanis in 1831, 84 in 1873, 101 in 1886, 113 in 1897, 108 in 1904, 118 in 1914 and 148 Azerbaijanis in 1916. The Azerbaijanis were attacked, massacred or ousted from the village by Armenian armed units in 1918. The village was abolished in 1918. At present, it lies in ruins.
The toponym was coined on the basis of the Turkic ethnonym “Garalar”.
