Garagaya is a small mountain in the Novo-Bayazid uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Akhta (Hrazdan) district, in the territory of the village of Dedegishlag (Akhundov, Pyunik) of the present Kotayk province.
The toponym was coined from the words “gara” used in the sense of “tall, high” and the word “gaya” used in the sense of “a mountain”.
