Dovri was a village in the territory of the Echmiadzin uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Ashtarak district, and present-day Aragatsotn province. It was located at the foot of Garniyarig Mountain. The village was marked on the five- verst map of the Caucasus and as “Dovra kharaba” in Z. Gorgodian’s work.
The village was inhabited only by 35 Azerbaijanis in 1831. From 1840 Armenians were removed from Türkiye and settled in the village and the Azerbaijanis were completely deported by Armenian armed formations from their historical and ethnic lands.
The toponym was coined by adding suffix “-ri” to the Old Turkic word “tau” meaning “a mountain”. At present, the village is ruined.
