Demirbulag Mosque

Haji Imamverdi Mosque of Demirbulag was often known as Demirbulag Mosque after the name of its location. Because the mosque was located near the bridge over the Geder River, it was also called the Korpugulaghi in some sources. On the 1856 map of Iravan, the mosque was named as Korpugulaghi. However, according to Mehrabov’s plan, there was a “Demirbulag Mosque” in that place. It was mentioned as “Qirkhbulag Mosque” in the work “Ayrarat” by Ghevond Alishan.

Looking at the photos of the mosque, it can be concluded that the mosque was built or coated with tuff. It had at least three asymmetric domes. The main and south domes were coated with bricks, and spiral staircase leading to the top of the dome had brick protrusions. Another smaller dome was probably covered with tin.

This mosque was built by Haji Muzaffar Agha in Demirbulag in 1909 and was destroyed in 1940s. It is also speculated that the mosque building later functioned as a bathhouse.
