Dashbashi was a village in the Zangezur uezd of the Yelizavetpol/ Ganja governorate, later in the former Gafan district, and currently in the Syunik province. It was located 23 km to the northwest of the town of Gafan and on the left bank of the Gighi River.

The village was inhabited by 53 Azerbaijanis in 1897, 42 in 1922, 37 in 1926, 65 in 1931 and 170 Azerbaijanis in 1986. It was merged with the village of Gighi in 1950. In November 1988 the village inhabitants were exposed to Armenian aggression and dispersed by the Armenian state. At present, the village is in ruins.

The toponym was coined by combining the words “dash” meaning “a mountain, a rock” and “bash” meaning “a summit, a peak; elevation; upland; height”.
