Bozkosa

Bozkosa  was a village in the territory of the Iravan uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Ellar (Kotayk, Abovyan) district, and present-day Kotayk province.

The village was inhabited by 99 Azerbaijanis in 1873, 141 in 1886, 161 in 1897, 154 in 1904, 225 in 1914 and 221 Azerbaijanis in 1916. The Azerbaijanis were attacked, massacred or ousted from the village by Armenian armed formations in 1918. At present, the village is in ruins.

The toponym is an ethnotoponym coined on the basis of the name of the Bozkosa tribe. There are many tribal names formed with the word “boz” among the Oghuz: Bozjalu, Boz Okhlar, Bozdoghan, Boz Ulus, etc.
