Berkdere is a valley in the Sharur-Daralayaz uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Keshishkend (Yeghegnadzor) district, and currently in the Vayots Dzor province.

The toponym is formed by combining the word “berk” used to mean “difficult and solid” in Azerbaijani and the word “dere” (a valley).
