Bazarkend

Bazarkend was a village in the territory of the Zangezur uezd of the former Yelizavetpol (Ganja) governorate, later in the former Garakilsa (Sisian) district, and present-day Syunik province. It was located near the village of Bazarchay and on the upper reach of the Bazarchay River. The village was abolished in the second half of the 19th century.

The toponym was coined by combining the Turkic ethnonym “Bazar” and the geographical nomen “kend” to denote “the village of the Bazar tribe”.
