Barakhli

Barakhli was a winter pasture located in the territory of the Borchali uezd of the Tiflis governorate, later in the former Barana (Noyemberyan) district, and currently in the Tavush province. It was located 30 km north of the town of Noyemberyan, on the banks of the Tona (Debed) River.

Historically, only Azerbaijanis lived in the winter pasture, which was part of the Lambali soviet (soviet – a territory in which the activities of local government bodies were carried out). The sources indicate that five Azerbaijanis lived there in 1926. It was dissolved as a settlement in the 1930s, and the Azerbaijanis were relocated from there.

The toponym was coined on the basis of the Turkic tribal name “Barak”.
