Ashaghi Kahriz

Ashaghi Kahriz was a village in the territory of the Iravan uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Gamarli (Artashat) district, and present-day Ararat province.

The village was inhabited by 40 Azerbaijanis in 1897 and abolished in the early 20th century.

The toponym was coined from the words “ashaghi” which denotes a distinctive feature and “kahriz” meaning “an underground waterway, a water pipe”. At present, the village is in ruins.
