Arkhaj was a village in the territory of the Sharur-Daralayaz uezd of the former Iravan governorate, later in the former Keshishkend (Yeghegnadzor) district, and present-day Vayots Dzor province.
The village was inhabited by 587 Azerbaijanis in 1897 and 80 Azerbaijanis in 1926. It was abolished in the 1940s.
The toponym was coined from the word “arkhaj” meaning “a sheepfold, a yard”.
